Synod 2025 met June 10-17 at Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ontario. The theme for this year was “Journey with Jesus” based on the Emmaus Road story of Luke 24, the theme also used at the ten Gather events throughout the denomination.
This theme helped bring a focus not only to Synod but to the prayers of thousands of people who prayed for the gatherings. The prayer initiatives for this year included a Pre-Synod Prayer Gathering, a Prayer Walk at Redeemer, 40 Days of Prayer in advance of synod, 30-Minute Prayer Vigil, early morning prayer at synod, Facebook prayer, Prayer Intercessors at synod, and worship and prayer during synod. Thank you for praying.
The “Journey with Jesus” on the road finds us with these themes:
- We had hoped - where we have disappointment, and unmet expectations
- Slow to Believe - there are times that we don’t see God at work or don’t trust the work he’s doing
- Recognizing Jesus - God is at work and we can see Jesus at work among us no matter what the circumstances
- Returning to Jerusalem - We share the good news
- Clothed with Power - The Spirit fills us for the Kingdom work where he leads.
