Webinars Feature Faith Alive Programs
Faith Alive Christian Resources, the publishing arm of the Christian Reformed Church, has started to offer free Webinars for people who are interested in learning how to better use and apply a range of scripturally-based educational materials in youth ministry and faith formation programs.
Simply put, a Webinar is a seminar hosted on the Web.
Instead of having to travel to locations all over the United States and Canada for the seminars, people need only to register, and they will then get an email confirming the time and date of the Webinar. There is no special software needed in order to participate.
In these Webinars, Faith Alive editors, authors, and other experts are available at certain times on the Web to enable “you to gain knowledge, training, and information in the comfort of your own home or office,” according a Faith Alive description of the process
This year Faith Alive began offering Webinars to specifically help people learn about Faith Alive’s Walk With Me and Kid Connection curricula and the Disciples faith-formation program for adults.
The next Webinar is coming up on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. “This 45 minute Webinar is perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about Kid Connection,” says a preview of the seminar. Kid Connection is a new curriculum that features both a large and small group format, making it adaptable to any church setting, no matter how big or small.
A 45-minute Webinar to introduce Walk with Me will be held Thursday January 15, 2009, at 2 p.m., Eastern Time. This curriculum offers material geared to different age groups, running from pre-school to eighth grade. This program helps the teacher teach to the individual learning styles of each child in the group.
“More than Storytelling: What Makes a Lesson Reformed?” is set for Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2 p.m., Eastern. The focus of this Webinar is to explore ways to assure that the Reformed perspective is taught in compelling ways by comparing a variety of approaches to Bible interpretation and then breaking them down and teaching them in ways that excite and challenge the children.
“You’ll walk away with rules of thumb for teaching your kids in a way that’s faithful to Scripture’s big story—God’s redemption and restoration of the world through Jesus Chris,” says Faith Alive.
A Webinar on Disciples, a faith formation program for adults and small groups, will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2008, at 11 a.m., Eastern Time. Faith Alive’s new Disciples program is a multiyear curriculum that helps adults grow in their faith at home, at church, and in small groups.
The program has three interconnected components: small group studies with discussion guides; thought-provoking devotionals for personal or family reading, and worship resources and service plans for churches.
“Follow Me,” the first study in the series, is an overview of what discipleship is and how it can change lives. Four subsequent studies, titled “Created,” “Called,” “Crafted,” and “Commissioned,” delve more deeply into the topic, each addressing specific aspects of discipleship, says Faith Alive.
