No Longer Homeless

April 24, 2007

Peter walked into The Back to God Hour follow-up center in Bangui, Central African Republic and announced, “I am homeless and a cast-off from society. I am a thief,” he confessed, “but I want to change.”

Peter is one of 178,000 listeners who responded to our French broadcast and Internet ministries last year. He heard Rev. Paul Mpindi’s message of challenge and hope. Every weekday thousands of people hear Mpindi’s messages broadcast over a loudspeaker in the marketplaces in Kinshasa, and up to 9,000 will visit the follow-up center in the course of one month. Like Peter, they have been challenged by God’s Word, and come to learn more.

“It is interesting to see how our listeners respond to our broadcasts in Africa,” reports Mpindi. “Many of them call the local telephone number that we give at the end of each program. But most of them walk to the follow-up centers that we have established in these countries. Listeners come for copies of sermons, Bible study correspondence courses, and pastoral advice.”

Peter joined the 25,726 new enrollees in Africa who signed up for the Bible study lessons since January 2007. He is working with our staff to learn how to follow Jesus. Because of your support of The Back to God Hour, people like Peter have found hope for a changed life and a home among the family of Christ, the ascended Lord!

Christian Reformed churches has been encouraged to receive an offering for the work of The Back to God Hour’s French media ministry in celebration of Ascension Day in May.
