New Website Includes Many Cultures
The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), which was founded in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 2010, has launched a new website, designed by the Reformed Church in America, which features links to blogs and websites created in languages used by WCRC churches in regions and cultures around the world.
The website expands the reach of the WCRC and helps to make the ecumenical organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland, more far-reaching and inclusive of its wide-ranging membership of some 230 member churches representing 80 million Christians.
Featured on the new site — www.wcrc.ch — is a five-part series of articles that come from Faith Alive Christian Resources, the publishing agency of the Christian Reformed Church.
The series of articles explores the worship renewal process called Worshiping the Triune God that was launched by the Uniting General Council, from which the WCRC sprang to life in 2010 from the merger between the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the Reformed Ecumenical Council in 2010. Click on "Worship" on the home page to see the first article in the series.
"We are excited about the News from the Regions feature with its links to websites and blogs created in the languages used by churches in the regions," says Kristine Greenaway, executive secretary for communications for the WCRC.
"You can now link to the Latin American region (AIPRAL) site in Spanish or to a blog in Bahasa, Indonesia and will soon be able to link to sites that profile WCRC in more languages."
A box in the center column of the home page is dedicated to the latest news from the WCRC. "We encourage member churches to send messages for posting that offer prayers for countries and churches in difficult situations," says Greenaway.
Each week, she says, viewers can check the Ecumenical Cycle of Prayer and join with churches worldwide in praying for the needs of a country or group of countries.
There also is an icon for ENInews that offers daily ecumenical news updates from around the world. People can send messages and requests for prayers to the WCRC's general secretary via email at [email protected].
"If you have questions, suggestions or stories to post, we would be pleased to hear from you," says Greenaway. To do this, contact [email protected] and write "WCRC website" in the subject line.
The WCRC is active in a range of initiatives, including supporting economic, climate and gender justice, mission efforts, and cooperation among Christians of different traditions.
