Home Missions Taps Interim Leader for Canada
Home Missions church planter Adrian VanGiessen has accepted the invitation to serve as interim Leader for Home Missions’ Central and Eastern Canada Ministry Team. Beginning November 3, VanGiessen will assume the role previously held by Ben Vandezande, who is now director of Home Missions.
Van Giessen, who leads The Journey, a Home Missions-funded church in Waterloo, Ontario, will work half-time as Central and Eastern Canada Ministry Team leader while he continues to be lead pastor of The Journey. He previously served as a church planter in Ajax, Ontario, and has also worked as a pastor in Penticton, British Columbia and Acton, Ontario. He has worked with the Central and Eastern Canada Ministry Team for the past seven years as a resource person, focusing on church planting and leadership development strategy.
He is also working to develop an administrative team to help provide leadership to the Central and Eastern Canada Ministry Team as it carries out work in the region, which includes Christian Reformed churches in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.
“Adrian brings a vital vision and passion for the mission of the church and strong skills as a strategic leader,” says Vandezande. “He is familiar with the ministry of Home Missions in Central and Eastern Canada and he will provide timely and solid leadership in this time of transition.”
