Escape to the Lake
Buried in a swamp of weeds, the cross at the edge of the Conference Point Center campground in Williams Bay, Wisc., was symbolic of the camp’s reputation after years of neglect.
But today, the camp’s new management, Lake Geneva Youth Camps and Conferences, is on a mission to restore the reputation and rededicate the grounds to the Lord.
To take part in this mission, Back to God Ministries International’sUnder the Radar program will partner with the Lake Geneva leaders to co-host the July 4-7, 2013 Escape to the Lake.
The event will take place at the restored Conference Point Center on the shores of Geneva Lake in Williams Bay. Registration is now open.
When the Lake Geneva staff originally contacted Under the Radar, they wanted to discuss hosting a single concert. While visiting the site, however, Dave Trout, Under the Radar producer, saw an even bigger way to bring people closer to the Lord: a three-day event.
“People encounter God in special ways,” Trout said. “For some that happens through art and music; there is nothing like a well-crafted song to penetrate the soul.
“Others might be edified through biblical teaching, good community, and the beauty of nature. Our hope is that everybody at the event will have this type of connection with God.”
At the camp, four speakers and 11 artists will share their gifts through concerts and breakout sessions. The camp will also include fishing, tubing, hiking, Fourth of July fireworks, and other activities.
Overall, Under the Radar sees the camp as an opportunity to bless campers, musical artists, the campground, and BTGMI’s ministry. The BTGMI team hopes to continue its partnership with the camp for many years to come.
“It is the classic creation story,” said Trout. “Something that was created good fell off the deep end and is now being rescued, reclaimed, and rebuilt — a lot of ‘re’ words. Now ReFrame Media wants to be a part of that.”
