Gift of Cash

How It Works

Roy, a devoted donor to the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), decided to make a lasting impact through planned giving. He opted for a cash gift payable on death, using the Payable on Death (POD) option as part of his financial planning strategy.

Setting up a POD bank account or certificate of deposit, Roy designated CRCNA as one of the beneficiaries to receive the funds upon his passing. However, until that time arrives, he maintains full control over the account, allowing him to manage the funds according to his needs and desires.

For Roy, this arrangement provides peace of mind, knowing that he's leaving behind a legacy that supports the mission of CRCNA, a cause close to his heart. It's a simple yet powerful way for Roy to make a lasting impact and ensure that his contributions continue to benefit CRCNA and its important work in the community even after he's gone.

In choosing the POD option, Roy encourages others who share his passion for supporting charitable causes to consider this method of planned giving. It's a practical way to leave a meaningful legacy and support the causes that matter most.

The Impact of a Simple Gift

Supporting the CRCNA is made easy through a simple cash donation. Your contribution can be instrumental in furthering our mission in various ways:

Direct Contribution: You can make a cash donation today by check, credit card, or by setting up an automatic bank transfer. Your generosity enables us to address our most pressing needs, and you can witness the positive effects of your support. Plus, when you itemize your taxes, you'll be eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction.

Payable on Death (POD) Account: Consider creating a POD bank account or certificate of deposit, designating one or more beneficiaries, including charities, to receive the funds upon your passing. Until then, you retain full control over the account, allowing you to manage the funds as needed.

Additionally, there are various other options to make cash donations, including:

  • Including us in your will or living trust.
  • Exploring a charitable gift annuity.
  • Setting up a charitable remainder trust.
  • Establishing a charitable lead trust.
  • Utilizing a donor-advised fund.
  • Making memorial and tribute gifts.
  • Creating an endowed gift.

Memorial Gifts

What a better way to honour the faithfulness of the saints who have walked before us with a memorial gift?  Benjamin chose to create a lasting legacy by giving a gift in memory of his father Doug, who was a lifelong member of the CRC. Sarah marked her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary with a gift because her parents were married in the local CRC church. This type of tribute not only recognizes the faithfulness of the individual but also supports the next generation of saints.
