Synod Welcomes Ministry Candidates
Synod 2 approved 43 candidates for ministry of the Word in the Christian Reformed Church.
The group of 37 men and six women included three married couples.
Thirteen of the candidates were present at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario, to meet with synod delegates, while another 12 gathered at the CRC denominational building in Grand Rapids, Mich. and watched via the live synod webcast.
Delegates welcomed the new candidates with a lengthy standing ovation.
“This is one of those doorway moments of life,” Rev. Julius Medenblik, president of Calvin Theological Seminary, told the candidates. “As you stand in that doorway, know that you are loved, supported and encouraged.”
Medenblik used God’s words to Joshua, instructing candidates to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid.
“God loves you, we love you,” Medenblik said. “Now, love the church.”
