Tim Bosma’s family and friends will be surrounded by prayer and support next week as the trial of the men accused of murdering him enters its final stages.

Bosma, a member of Ancaster (ON) Christian Reformed Church, was killed in May 2013 after he accompanied two men on a test drive of a truck he was trying to sell.

Since the trial of the men accused of murdering Bosma began over four months ago, members of the Ancaster CRC and others have been praying for the Bosma family and those involved in the ongoing trial.

The CRC’s Canadian Ministries office is planning a prayer vigil to begin on Monday, June 13, when the judge is expected to give his charge to the jurors before they begin deliberations. The vigil will continue until a verdict is reached.

Rev. Darren Roorda, the Canadian Ministries director, has invited Christian Reformed congregations across Canada to pray during their worship services and individually for the Bosma family and for the deliberations and decisions that will take place.

Members from churches in the Ancaster/Hamilton area have been invited to gather for quiet contemplation and prayer on a lawn across from the courthouse where the trial is proceeding. Roorda described the vigil as “a time of quiet contemplation and loving support; a time not for people to be seen, but for Christ to be seen as a true source of strength and love.”
