Worship Institute Provides Resources for Pentecost
The Calvin Institute of Christian of Christian Worship (CICW) is offering a range of resources to help churches mark Pentecost, which is this Sunday, June 8, and the upcoming Trinity Season.
Also known as the Season of Growth or simply as Ordinary Time, Trinity Season begins June 15 with Trinity Sunday and the focus it brings on the doctrine of God's triune nature.
During Trinity Season, the liturgical calendar puts the emphasis on congregations and individuals growing in the faith, Christian living, stewardship and service.
Included on the CICW website are suggestions for worship services, the use of art in worship, recommended hymns, and planning and preaching resources for the entire liturgical calendar from Advent to Advent.
The CICW website says congregations across the Christian Reformed Church will be celebrating Pentecost this Sunday as a sign of renewal for the entire Christian church.
"On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples. Ten days after Christ's ascension and fifty days after his resurrection, the disciples were together for a Jewish festival also known as the Feast of Weeks, which drew people from many nations back to Jerusalem," says the website.
Besides posting Pentecost and Trinity Season resources, CICW says, "We also have added to our website in recent weeks stories on a wide variety of worship-related topics, stories we hope you will peruse and find relevant and useful," says the website.
