BTGMI adds ThinkChristian Blog

October 30, 2008

In the wake of Gospel Communications International (GCI) closing down its Internet operations, ThinkChristian.net has been transferred to Back to God Ministries International (BTGMI), a Chicago-based media ministry.

ThinkChristian is a collaborative blog that wrestles with faith, culture, and what it means to be a Christian in today’s society. This online community-based ministry will continue in its current format at BTGMI, with expansion planned for the future.

“This is a perfect fit for our ministry, where we desire to see a holistic Gospel message impacting all of life and culture,” shares Steven Koster, BTGMI English Leader.  “We are thrilled to add ThinkChristian to our portfolio of media ministries.”

“Our prayer and desire was to re-plant our ministries into new soil, so that they can flourish even beyond what GCI was able to do,” said Robby Richardson, GCI’s acting COO.  “We are excited to see ThinkChristian in the hands of BTGMI where it can grow and thrive.”

ThinkChristian joins a family of ministries at BTGMI English, including Kids Corner, Walk the Way, Spotlight, the Today devotional, and the flagship radio program The Back to God Hour.

Since Faith Alive Christian Resources, the publishing agency for the CRC, was using the Gospelcom e-commerce system, it will need to find an alternative option for its online sales system.

"Staff is currently reviewing various options.  Faith Alive anticipates that it can use this as an opportunity to have a website that contains a number of additional features that its customers have been asking for," says Gary Mulder, director of Faith Alive Christian Resources.

Meanwhile, according to the Associated Press, Christian book publisher Zondervan is acquiring BibleGateway.com, a popular nonprofit Bible search engine, from Gospel Communications Inc., which is based in Muskegon, Mich..

"The agreement signed Monday includes the Bible search engine, which averages 6 million different users each month, and Gospel.com, a central Web site for more than 250 Christian groups," says the Associated Press.
