My Hope and Stay

March 3, 2025

Most often my peace is distracted by unjust practices. We desperately and hopelessly ask if everything is almost giving way. What direction do we see our future leading us into? Social and economic wellbeing is challenging a greater percentage of the global population.

There are untold deep pains and suffering in the world. These include among others: lack of peace, detention without trial, corrupt systems, political instability, internally displaced populations due to disasters and seeking refuge in foreign lands. The broken  relationships among countries, families, workplaces, political spheres and many social services providers deem an inevitable emergency call for a response.

While my heart pondered and wondered like a deer panting for the water, I found the Book of 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 and looked deep with me for how to be an agent of change.

“If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people, and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land”.

The injustices within and around each one of us in the world points us to a greater calling similar to what King Solomon was instructed to adhere to in order to regain restoration and renewal amidst tribulations. The call for justice systems and processes in all spheres of life is hinged on the recognition of this call. This is true to our times today that demands us to seek, recognise and reconsider our ways.

I have gained this blessed assurance that my father God is still merciful and relentlessly waiting upon my return to him in obedience and remorsefulness. God’s promises are very refreshing for my broken heart. Our forefathers who are gone before us triumphed over. These are  testimonies of how God is faithful through all generations.  This leads me to sing ‘on Christ the solid rock I stand.’

May we journey together with Christ during the Lent season and bring more reassurance to those we know that in the world there is trouble, but he is with us till the end of the days.
