Justice Prayers - March 25 2026
The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.
- Job 37:23
Fear Mongering by Media Outlets
“Breaking news” once meant something urgent and rare. Now it often signals something else: a hook for our attention. Headlines are designed to trigger fear or outrage so we will click. This is not neutral. It shapes how we feel and what we give time and attention to. Research shows urgency and emotional language boosts clicks, even when the content is trivial. Over time, this creates anxiety and keeps us scrolling for control in an uncertain world. When our attention is treated as a product, our fears become tools to profit media stakeholders. Naming this as injustice matters. It asks who benefits and who pays the cost.
God of peace, you tell us to fear not. Media outlets scream at us with messages of fear and uncertainty, and it is taking its toll. We easily feel afraid, and we click to feel properly informed and prepared. God of peace, restore and sustain us. Grant us wisdom as we navigate this worldly trap.
Wars to Cease
War between the United States, Israel, and Iran is intensifying, with missile strikes, air attacks, and rising civilian suffering. Reports this week describe new missile barrages on cities and continued airstrikes across Iran, while efforts for peace remain uncertain. At the same time, Sudan’s civil war–ongoing since 2023–has forced hundreds of thousands to flee. Fighting has spilled into border areas as refugees are being relocated and violence intensifies. In moments like this, hope feels distant. Yet, in Christ, we know hope lives and is visible wherever mercy interrupts violence. Relief may come through small openings; talks, willingness to pause, and courage to stop.
Lord of all nations, we pray for wars to cease. We pray that violence and evil will be thwarted. We do not pray for one side to win, but for human lives and all of creation to be protected. We pray for leaders to choose restraint, for civilians to be sheltered, and for love to guide decisions. Come, Holy Spirit, come.
Aid in Cuba
Cuba’s deepening humanitarian crisis has sparked a remarkable global response, as an international convoy delivers roughly 20 tons of aid, including food, medicine to treat cancer, and solar supplies, to the island. Some 650 delegates from 33 countries and 120 organizations began arriving in Cuba last Friday as part of a solidarity caravan transporting aid.
This effort is not simple: aid is arriving both by air and by sea, with a flotilla of vessels sailing from Mexico, loaded with essential goods like rice, beans, and baby formula. It is an immense, coordinated undertaking that reflects extraordinary human commitment from multiple countries including the USA. These actions reveal a powerful truth: despite conflict—and the ways human suffering is often intensified or prolonged by the decisions and actions of governments—the world still cares and is willing to act collectively to bring hope.
Lord, we rejoice in this effort. Hallelujah! Strengthen, multiply, and miraculously supply those who seek provision for all people. Sustain the people of Cuba we pray. Strengthen our hearts and hands to work to be the answer to our own prayers. And above all, soften the hearts of leaders, and help us to remain faithful in bringing hope, justice, and compassion.
