U.S.A and Venezuela Tensions
The recent U.S. military action that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro has intensified global debate about sovereignty, justice, and the use of force.
Maduro and his wife have pleaded not guilty in a New York court to U.S. charges of narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, and weapons offences, charges the U.S. administration has used to justify his removal from Venezuela.
The operation has raised concerns internationally and domestically, with questions emerging about precedent, oversight, and long-term implications for regional and global stability.
God of all nations, in a world where power often overrides peace, we ask you to restrain the impulse toward domination and violence. Protect people caught in the crossfire of political struggle, and guide leaders toward justice that is accountable, lawful, and humane.
Inadequate Shelter for Winter in Gaza
Recent assessments by humanitarian shelter specialists indicate that many tents supplied to displaced Palestinians in Gaza are inadequate for winter conditions. Storms and heavy rain have damaged or destroyed thousands of tents, leaving large numbers of people exposed to flooding, cold, and unsafe living conditions. Evaluations found that some tents lack waterproofing, structural stability, and proper flooring.
Restrictions on aid delivery, shortages of materials, and uncertainty around future ceasefire arrangements continue to hinder recovery efforts. These realities highlight the gap between the promise of relief and the daily conditions faced by families struggling to endure another winter without secure housing.
God we pray for all who face cold, rain, and danger without safe shelter. Strengthen those working to provide care and relief, and move decision-makers toward cooperation that places human dignity first.
Canada and Security Discussions on Ukraine
As discussions continue about a possible ceasefire in Ukraine, Prime Minister Mark Carney has said Canada is preparing to play a role in future security arrangements. Speaking with international partners in Paris, he noted that talks are close to completion, with remaining issues to be negotiated by Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
Canadian officials say the focus is on how allied countries could support stability if fighting ends. These conversations reflect the challenge of working toward peace while addressing long-term security concerns.
Lord, guide leaders as they seek paths toward stability and restraint. Protect those affected by conflict, and grant wisdom in decisions that shape the future of nations.
