7-Step Thriving in Mission Pathway

The Thriving in Mission discovery process is a partnership designed to move your congregation from a "problem-solving" mindset to a "discerning" one. We don’t just provide a manual; we walk alongside you, providing the tools, on-site training, and professional coaching needed to uncover your unique calling.

Here is how we will support your church through our seven-step discovery pathway:

Step 1: 40 Days of Discernment

We provide your entire congregation with a "40 Days of Discernment" guide focused on prayer and Bible reading. This step establishes a foundation that invites everyone to participate and ensures Christ remains at the center of the process from the very beginning.

Step 2: Thriving Essentials

We visit your church for a one-day Thriving Essentials training experience. This facilitated session is designed to get your leadership team on the same page, moving in the same direction regarding mission, discipleship, discernment, and leadership. It sets a clear expectation for spiritual discernment over simple decision-making.

Step 3: Building a Framework for Vision

We provide the tools you need to define the unique characteristics of your congregation and neighborhood. Where possible, we’ll use census data to provide you with reports about the detailed demographics and trends within your local community. We will guide your team in identifying the "redemptive activity" already happening in your community and lead you in practical exercises like neighborhood prayer walking to see your context through fresh eyes.

Step 4: Thriving Congregations Survey (Optional)

Depending on what is learned in earlier steps, we offer the Thriving Congregations Survey. This simple tool allows you to measure both the overall health of the church and the individual spiritual walks of your members, providing data to inform your future direction.

Step 5: Vision Frame

We come to your church a second time for a facilitated meeting to compile all the learning from the previous steps. Our facilitators help you translate these insights into a clear Vision Frame that defines who God is calling your specific church to be in your unique context.

Step 6: Goal Setting and Ownership

We assist your council in discussing the results of the Vision Frame and drafting concrete goals for the coming year. This step is designed to build local ownership by sharing the vision with the entire congregation, ensuring everyone is invested in the path forward.

Step 7: Ongoing Momentum and Coaching

To ensure your vision leads to lasting change, we provide ongoing coaching and accountability. We help you review progress and challenges every 4–6 months and assign a dedicated coach to walk with you for the first year, ensuring your agreed-upon goals are tended to on a regular basis.
