Synod Roundup - Tuesday Afternoon

After a lengthy discussion Synod 2012 unanimously adopted a new Covenant for Officebearers to replace the Form of Subscription. This is the third time the proposed revision has come to synod. 

Earlier, synod heard from fraternal delegates from sister Reformed denominations and viewed a video about the ministry partnerships between the Christian Reformed Church and the Reformed Church in America.

Synod welcomed 43 new candidates for ministry of the Word. Delegates received them and prayed for them. Rev. Jul Medenblik, president of Calvin Theological Seminary told them, we’ve loved you, now go love the church.

In other decisions, synod asked the Board of Trustees to implement a program to assist churches in confronting use of pornography.
