Ukraine President Visits Turkey to Revive Peace Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is traveling to Turkey in an effort to revive stalled peace negotiations as the war with Russia enters another difficult phase. Turkey has positioned itself as a potential mediator, maintaining ties with both Kyiv and Moscow. With battlefield conditions worsening and international attention shifting, Ukraine is seeking diplomatic openings to ease civilian suffering and secure long-term security guarantees. Zelensky’s visit aims to restart dialogue on cease-fire terms, humanitarian corridors, and future regional stability. The stakes are high: millions remain displaced, infrastructure is devastated, and the human toll grows as fighting continues without a clear end.

Lord, we hold before you all who are weary of war - families displaced, communities shattered, and leaders burdened by impossible decisions. We pray for wisdom for those who sit at negotiation tables, for courage to choose de-escalation, and for imagination to find paths where violence can yield to justice.

Peace for Bangladesh

Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to death in absentia by a special International Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity. The court found she ordered a lethal crackdown – including use of helicopters, drones, and security forces – during a mass student-led uprising in 2024 that the U.N. estimates resulted in as many as 1,400 deaths. Critics, including Hasina herself, argue the tribunal is politically motivated, lacks democratic legitimacy, and may violate international fair-trial standards. Human Rights Watch also warns that while accountability is critical, imposing the death penalty raises serious human rights concerns. Hasina is currently in exile in India.

God, we lift up the people of Bangladesh; the victims of violence, the survivors, and the grieving. We pray for truth and accountability in the wake of the 2024 student uprising. Help us not to celebrate vengeance but to long for reconciliation that restores dignity. Lord, guide leaders to pursue genuine justice, not political score-settling. May your peace, not fear, shape the future of Bangladesh.

Climate Justice & Reparations

In a historic ruling (July, 2025) the International Court of Justice (ICJ) affirmed that countries have a legal obligation under international law to address climate change as a human rights issue. The court emphasized that wealthier nations must assist more vulnerable countries, especially those already suffering severe climate impacts. Moreover, the court declared that states failing their climate duties may owe reparations - a precedent for climate justice.

God of Creation, we lament how your world is being harmed by climate change, especially the most vulnerable communities. Grant us courage to demand accountability, and generosity to repair the damage. Lead nations to act justly, cooperate faithfully, and prioritize the well-being of future generations. Help us to walk gently on the earth as stewards of your gift.
