St. Albert, Alberta, my long-time home, is on Treaty 6 territory. I am grateful to live here. In retirement I’m doing all those things I couldn’t while raising three incredible children and teaching full-time. I’ve learned to draw and paint, had extraordinary experiences traveling with my husband and being Mimi to my granddaughter is a gift.

My self-study of the Indigenous experience in Canada began many years ago while searching out a truer history for my Social Studies classes. I’ve expanded that study considerably since retiring. Despite the TRC, there’s still so much for Canadians to know and understand about the history before residential schools and the Indigenous reality since residential schools. This is especially true for those of us in the church. Not all churches are open to learning so I’d like to help change that wherever possible. Writing has been a place to start.
