Why is administration of Christian ministry important in the local church?  In I Corinthians 12:28, the gift of administration is listed among the spiritual gifts.  In I Corinthians 14:40, we read that “everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”

Church leaders and administrators are called to use their gifts to provide for orderly functioning of the church.  This work must be God centered, led by the spirit of God, and accomplished with a servant heart.  The challenge is always to maintain an appropriate balance—people must always be more important than the organization.  A clearly defined organization should help people serve, not be a hindrance to service.

Purpose

The resources provided here (see sidebar) are to assist church members in their task of adding clarity, order and control to church organization, so that people are better equipped to serve in a way that honors God.  If procedures and policies are clear in the areas of church organization, accounting, finance, employment and risk management, people will have more trust in the church, and will be better able to serve in a loving and God glorifying way.  These resources are free to anyone who can use them.

What This Website Doesn't Do

Excellent, comprehensive church financial and tax manuals have already been written, and are available for very reasonable cost.  This website is not an attempt to write another manual, but to augment what has previously been published by experts. The additional helps, forms, and materials provided here should assist you in expediting financial and administrative control in your church—particularly if it is a Christian Reformed church.

Important Notes

The documents provided are samples submitted by Christian Reformed churches. They are not official CRCNA documents and are not intended to imply CRCNA policy.

When constructing church policies and procedures, be sure to consult with competent legal and financial professionals.
