New Translations of Bible Studies

Resonate Global Mission just launched its first French  translation of a popular Global Coffee Break Discover Your Bible study for groups in Canada and the United States—with more to come.

The French translation of Discover Mark is now available at the Global Coffee
Break store through Faith Alive. Discover Colossians and Discover New Life in Christ translations in French will also be available soon, and studies in Indonesian, Hindi, Arabic, and more are in the works.

Working with partners around the world, Resonate has translated a variety of Global Coffee Break studies from English into 17 languages. While English, Korean, and Spanish translations have been available for churches in Canada and the United States, several other languages have been published and printed by partners for availability only overseas.

“Our hope is to make many languages available in Canada and the United States as well. We work with partners around the globe, but this work will equip many churches here,” said Janis Persenaire, Resonate’s Global Coffee Break program manager.

When the Coffee Break program first started in 1970 and began translating studies from English into other languages a few decades later, there wasn’t a pressing need in North America for translations in languages beyond Korean and Spanish—but that’s changing.

As more people move throughout the world and settle in Canada and the United States, Resonate’s Global Coffee Break team has identified a need for translations in these languages. They anticipate that these translations will be helpful for churches, church plants, campus ministries, and other ministries serving or reaching out to diaspora communities.

“Canada and the United States are multilingual countries. So if you have English-speakers and French-speakers in the same group, you can be on the same page—literally. I think it’s exciting that there are so many pocket linguistic communities that will have access to these guides,” said Olena Zadoya, Resonate’s Global Coffee Break translation coordinator.

Zadoya noted that making translations available for churches and ministries in North America is a significant project. While Global Coffee Break offers studies in 17 languages, some of the translations need to be updated to match the latest English editions. Right now, 14 of those 17 languages have guides that match the English versions in use in North America.

The team is also working on translations into two languages in which studies have not yet been available: Mongolian and Hmong. These translations will also be available to groups in Canada and the United States as well as to international partners.
