Safe Church

Abuse Awareness Sunday - September 27, 2015

Abuse Awareness Sunday is a time for abuse to come out of hiding and into the light. All CRC congregations are encouraged to observe this important day by distributing topical bulletin inserts, promoting available resources, leading prayers and liturgies, and educating church members on the prevalence and impacts of abuse. Abuse Awareness Sunday may be observed on September 27 or any other day of the year. This year’s featured topic is child sexual abuse. Learn more here.

A Safe Church Meditation (mp3 sermon audio) by Rev. Joshua Holwerda, Bethany CRC, Gallup, NM. A powerful sermon useful as an example of how and why churches should begin to talk openly about abuse and create a safer church environment.
