Ride Along with Sea to Sea For a Day

July 11, 2008—Local groups in Denver, Grand Rapids and New Jersey are partnering with Sea to Sea to provide casual cyclists of all ages an opportunity to ride with the Sea to Sea Bike Tour for a day.

Denver
In Denver, Colo., day-riders can choose from three different distances to join the tour on Saturday, July 26. They can ride the full 80 miles from Snow Mountain Ranch to Denver Christian High or pick up the tour mid-way in either Evergreen, Colo.,—25 miles out—or along the Bear Creek bikeway for a 10-mile ride.

Those interested must obtain forms and register before July 15 by calling Lisa Gossman at (303) 770-4256 or First Christian Reformed Church at (303) 733-4936.

A fourth option to ride along with Sea to Sea in Denver is on Sunday morning, July 27, as the cyclists ride two miles from Denver Christian to Englewood High School Stadium, the site of Denver’s 10:00 a.m. celebration rally.

Instead of setting a participation fee, day-riders are encouraged to give as they are able. Donations will support Volunteers In Action, an organization that helps churches and individuals connect with and serve the poor in Denver.

Grand Rapids
In Grand Rapids, Mich., Volunteers in Service (VIS) is coordinating a one-day ride for cyclists to join the Sea to Sea tour on Saturday, Aug. 16 for a 45-mile ride from Grand Haven to Grand Rapids.

Interested riders are asked to donate at least $100 to support VIS’s work in helping those in need in West Michigan. VIS connects people who need caring support with people in the Christian community equipped to provide faith-motivated care for their neighbors.

To join the tour for this one-day ride, cyclists need to register through VIS before Aug. 8 by filling out the form available on the VIS web site and submitting a tax-deductible donation of at least $100. (More information at SeatoSea.org.)

The ride begins at 8 a.m. at the CRC Conference Grounds in Grand Haven and ends at Calvin College in Grand Rapids in the afternoon. Maps, transportation options and further details will be made available by VIS.

Jersey City
In New Jersey, the volunteers that have been organizing the Sea to Sea’s last celebration rally in Wyckoff are also sponsoring a one-day ride from Sussex, NJ to the final destination at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.

A $30 registration fee is required to participate, which includes admission to the closing picnic in Wyckoff. In addition, riders are asked to raise $100 in donations that will be added to the Sea to Sea Bike Tour campaign in helping end the cycle of poverty locally and globally.
