Christian Reformed Church Communications will be soon presenting a  two-part webinar featuring information from the denomination's Strategic Planning and Adaptive Change Team (SPACT) report.

The first webinar will be from noon-1 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Nov.19, followed by the second from noon-1 p.m. EST on Friday, Nov. 22.

As part of a process to create a new ministry plan for the CRC, the denomination’s Board of Trustees developed the report that offers a look at challenges facing the Christian church in general, and the CRC, specifically, in North America.

In recent weeks, SPACT has been hosting a number of gatherings across the U.S. and Canada to explore the findings of the report.

Such findings include statistics showing the flight of young people from churches and a drop in loyalty to the CRC. The report also sets the stage for discussion on how to possibly address these concerns.

This two-part webinar will be the “online gathering” for those not able to attend one of the regional gatherings.

In part one, we’ll look at societal, demographic, and other shifts taking place in North America. In part two, we’ll explore the changes taking place within the CRC, and share findings from interviews conducted with CRC members.

The presenter will be Rev. Thea Leunk, pastor of Eastern Avenue CRC in Grand Rapids, Mich., and a member of  SPACT.

For more details and registration, visit crc webinars.

Leunk was one of the two SPACT members who presented the report at one of the first meetings in early October at Alger Park CRC in Grand Rapids, Mich.

One of the most recent meetings took place in the Pacific Northwest. SPACT members Rev. Darren Roorda and Rev. Gary Bekker presented the report and took copious notes from church members in those settings.
