Safe Church Ministry
exists to be a resource to churches.
It is our desire that all CRC congregations become safe places; safe from any threat of abuse, where the infinite value of each person is honored and relationships are open, honest and respectful. This safe environment reflects the love of our Savior and provides a rich context for spiritual growth. We live in a culture where violence, disrespect, and abuse are rampant and find their way into our churches. Safe Church Ministry provides resources for churches to fight against these forces. Our prayer is that the Lord will work powerfully through Safe Church Ministry until all of our churches are truly safe, with every effort taken to prevent abuse, and to respond effectively with compassion and justice where abuse has occurred. Come join with us in this important work.
Safe Church Ministry Conference - April 27-28, 2012
Location: Prince Center, Grand Rapids, MI
Synod encourages each classis to form a Safe Church Team made up of representatives from each church in the classis. Safe Church Teams have three mandates: to provide education to church members regarding issues surrounding abuse, to support those affected by abuse, and to offer the Advisory Panel Process in cases of allegations against a church leader. This Safe Church Ministry conference, to be held at the Prince Center in Grand Rapids, will provide training to Safe Church Team members toward fulfillment of these mandates.
