Strategy of Transformation

An extended trailer for the documentary, "Reparando" created by Athentikos, that follows the lives and ministries of several members of the Strategy of Transformation network in Guatemala.

The Context

The situation of the younger generation in Latin America is critical, with thousands of young people participating in violent street gangs while others are prisoners of grinding poverty, homelessness, alcoholism, drugs and the effects of sexual promiscuity. This reality presents the Body of Christ with a great opportunity to step up and become agents of transformational change. The "Estrategia de Transformacion" (EdT) or "Strategy of Transformation" in English, is designed to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity by mobilizing a new generation of leaders to spur renewal in communities and nations, all for God's glory. 

What is the Strategy of Transformation?

Strategy of Transformation trainers work to empower, equip and mobilize grassroots leaders who serve those who have been wrongly labeled the least, last and the lost in marginalized and vulnerable communities. The EdT explores what it means to effectively reach out to and serve youth-at-risk and their families by building relationships and walking alongside them. The desired impact will come through theological training that calls the church to bear witness to God’s grace among the most marginalized, un-churched and hostile people and places. These leaders serve as God's ambassadors in some extremely difficult contexts.

Meet the Trainers

Joel Van Dyke, CRWM missionary in Guatemala City, currently serves as the Director of the EdT, a strategic alliance between CRWM and the Center For Transforming Mission. Calvin Seminary grad, Mario Matos, serves as the EdT Caribbean Director in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  Several associate trainers are involved in this training initiative and hundreds of leaders have been trained and are working throughout Latin America. This grassroots training initiative is happening throughout Latin America: Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Mexico.
