Agencies & Specialized Ministries

The ministries of the Christian Reformed Church share Christ's love with millions of people around the world. Our agencies of evangelism, education, relief and development are active in 40 countries and our radio and television broadcasts blanket the globe. The breadth of these ministries demonstrates our obedience to the Great Commission. The support of God's people through prayers, gifts and ministry shares makes this work possible.

Back to God Ministries International

Through the worldwide media ministry of Back to God Ministries International, the Christian Reformed Church broadcasts the gospel in nine languages to people in almost 200 countries. (show/hide more)

Internet ministries have increased the ability to reach people in regions otherwise closed to the gospel. Thanks to your support, BTGMI Internet, radio, television, telephone, and print ministries continue to evangelize and disciple people worldwide through:

  • Programming on 1,600 national and international radio stations
  • Internet support ministries in nine languages to help seekers dig deeper into the Christian faith
  • Christian television programs in three languages on 130 stations worldwide
  • Children’s programming in seven languages, using many different media tools
  • Bible study courses in three languages that have helped disciple tens of thousands of people worldwide
  • The annual publication and global distribution of more than 4 million devotional booklets.

Calvin College

Calvin College, established in 1876, has become one of the largest Christian colleges in North America, and also one of the most recognized as a center for liberal arts teaching and scholarship, undergirded by a Reformed world and life view. (show/hide more)

Calvin graduates serve around the world as skilled and visionary leaders in God’s kingdom, while each year more than 4,200 students from all parts of the globe come to campus to partake in a comprehensive Christian liberal arts curriculum that offers 100 majors and areas of study.

Calvin students, whatever their field of study, are being prepared to join the college’s more than 50,000 alumni making a difference in God’s world. In the words of the Calvin mission statement: “Through our learning, we seek to be agents of renewal in the academy, church, and society. We pledge fidelity to Jesus Christ, offering our hearts and lives to do God’s work in God’s world.”

Calvin Theological Seminary

Calvin Theological Seminary trains pastors and other leaders for ministry in today’s church. Its primary program is preparing congregational pastors. Its strong emphasis on Bible, theology, and ministry training provides the deep grounding needed to be effective and relevant in today’s world. (show/hide more)

In addition to training pastors, the seminary trains people as evangelists, church planters, ministers of education, youth pastors, and other specialized ministries not requiring ordination. Calvin seminary also prepares people to teach or to give advanced leadership in our own denomination and in churches, seminaries, colleges, and Bible schools around the world.

Calvin Theological Seminary offers many continuing education programs for pastors and other ministry leaders. Many of these programs are offered on our campus, but many are also available regionally in the United States and Canada. The seminary’s website also contains excellent resources for pastors and other church leaders.

Christian Reformed Home Missions

Christian Reformed Home Missions serves the Christian Reformed Church by providing leadership assistance for
evangelism and discipleship to 47 classes and nearly 1,000 Christian Reformed churches in Canada and the United States. (show/hide more)

Home Missions works in partnership with classes and congregations to support educational ministries, help churches to become more mission-focused, encourage church planting, train leaders, and promote spiritual growth through prayer and small groups such as Coffee Break.

Home Missions:

  • focuses Christian Reformed congregations on God’s mission in North America
  • helps congregations and classes plant new churches 
  • supports and encourages campus ministries and mission schools
  • identifies and trains leaders for outreach and discipleship
  • encourages the development of small groups and local prayer initiatives

Christian Reformed World Missions

Christian Reformed World Missions is the global evangelism arm of the Christian Reformed Church. Since 1888, World Missions has been leading the CRC to respond obediently to our Lord's commission to witness to the good news of God's kingdom and to make disciples of all nations. (show/hide more)

World Missions helps CRC congregations in North America to vigorously participate in mission with churches and other Christian organizations throughout the world.

Almost 250 missionaries serve in more than 20 countries through and with World Missions. World Missions also works with partners around the world, helping to bridge cultural gaps and to extend Christ’s kingdom.

Through its Summer Missions Program, it sends CRC youth to experience missions in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Christian Reformed World Relief Committee

The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) is the relief and development organization of the Christian Reformed Church. It responds on your behalf to the needs of people around the world who are suffering from poverty, hunger, disaster, and injustice. (show/hide more)

CRWRC also serves as your resource for volunteer opportunities, advocacy ideas, and educational materials about hunger, poverty, community development and justice.

CRWRC works in North America to help restore communities that have been seriously affected by disasters, and to help churches and individuals recognize the importance of living justice and loving mercy. It seeks to build a world where people work together to carry out acts of justice and mercy within their own community and around the world.

Faith Alive Christian Resources

Faith Alive Christian Resources, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church, is one of the leading publishers of Reformed resources in North America. (show/hide more)

Faith Alive publishes resources for children and youth ministries, small groups, leadership, worship, prayer, evangelism, special needs, and more. It also publishes The Banner, Reformed Worship, an extensive line of Spanish books (under the imprint Libros Desafio) and books in other languages.

More than half of Faith Alive’s sales are to churches outside the CRC, enabling it to produce more products in more categories than would otherwise be possible.

  • Faith Alive develops and produces church school curriculum and other study materials for people of all ages, as well as resources for worship and leadership.
  • World Literature Ministries coordinates the publishing and distribution of biblically based Christian literature in several major languages.
  • The Banner, the monthly magazine of the Christian Reformed Church, is sent to every CRC home free of charge, supported by ministry shares and by gifts.
