Media Contacts Top 1.7 Million in 2006

The Back to God Hour’s ability to reach people with the gospel through media has increased—and it shows in the number of people who are connecting with the Chicago-based electronic media ministry.

In 2006, BTGH's nine language ministries received more than 1.7 million contacts from people in 170 countries around the world! That number is up from 1.3 million contacts in 2005, and 867,000 in 2004.

According to the agency's international ministries record-keepers, 1,383,379 people visited one of its 16 websites to read devotionals, listen to a biblical message, or request additional literature. In addition, 324,117 listeners sent an e-mail, made a phone call, or wrote a letter. And, in Africa, up to 7,000 of these listeners visited regional follow-up centers each month, asking for prayer, spiritual counsel, or the next lesson in the Bible Study correspondence course.

A listener from Beijing wrote to BTGH's Chinese ministry, “I am one of your faithful listeners. I have worn out my two previous radios and I am using the third one already. I have written more than 30 letters to you. Each time I prayed that it will arrive in your hands safely because I heard so many letters are being confiscated. Praise the Lord, every one of them did arrive and I received your responses to each one of them. Just want to share this testimony of God’s faithfulness.”

Young Teresa wrote the Kids Corner staff: “I go on your website a couple of times a week. It is a neat website. You can learn more about God on it. I want to get the correspondence Bible Study workbook.”

And Jimmy from Indonesia testifies that the Indonesian language devotional booklet, Wasiat, literally saved his life. “I wanted to [commit] suicide because my problems were so hard and many. After I read that devotional booklet, I became aware that it would be wrong to end my life. Step by step, God is changing my attitude, my faith and my life…I believe God is greater than any problem I have.”
