Join an ecumenical gathering to learn (and unlearn) more about immigration! Immigration continues to be a timely, complex topic and we are committed to addressing the issue from a biblical perspective. We will explore what Scripture has to say about the topic, address how our current immigration system works and common misconceptions about immigrants/refugees, revisit immigration throughout U.S. history, and highlight ways in you can advocate for justice. Sneak peak: How does our immigration system work? Why don’t people just get in line? Why do we have so many undocumented people living in the United States? For the first portion of the workshop we will do a simulation where each person receives an identity card of someone hoping to move to the United States. They will have to decide which visa would work best for them and then fill out the application to see if they qualify. This exercise shows us how the system works and the many barriers people who are denied entry face. Join us!
