CRWRC Zambia Farm Manager


Location:  Ndola, Zambia

Area of Focus:  Northrise University is the first Christian university in Zambia.  They currently have over 600 students with specialties in computer, business, and agriculture.  They have a farm which is used for demonstration, teaching, income generation, and research.  Although Northrise is not an official partner of the CRC, CRWRC Zambia will give oversight for the opportunity.  Currently, Northrise has a school partnership with Dordt College.

Number of Positions: 1

Expected Length of Service: 52 Weeks (Can only be extended with approval from the field.)

Dates Opportunity Is Available: Departure dates negotiable

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Learn different cultural, administrative and field aspects of community development work.
2. Manage the day to day farming operations of the Northrise University farm.
3. Assist in other needed program areas as assigned;
4. Complete weekly or monthly reports regarding work.

Qualifications
1. Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ, and a US or Canadian resident;
2. College graduate with 2 to 3 years experience in Agriculture, Animal Sciences, or related field
3. Three years of experience working on a major farm operation;
4. Working knowledge of large scale mixed farming operations and procedures.
5. Knowledge of principles and methods of teaching, instruction and designing trainings.
6. Skilled in maintaining business records.
6. Excellent written, oral and organizational skills.
7. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture;
8. Interest in learning about the many facets of community development;
9. Commitment to CRWRC development values;
10. Able and willing to work in a team setting; 
11. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Excel is required;  
12. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture;
13. Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support;
14. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.
15. Can work independently with little direct supervision.

Financial Requirements of Volunteer:
Estimation of $19,424 USD for RT Airfare to Zambia, Transfers, In-country travel, Insurance, Travel Costs, Monthly Living Allowance, Food, Utilities, Immunizations, Visa Costs, Cell Phone and Cell Phone Minutes
