Opportunity Title:  IMPACT Club and Viata Intern

Location:  Lupeni, Romania

CRCNA Partner Group Involved:  CRWRC works in partnership with New Horizons Foundation.  

Number of Positions: 1 at a time

Expected Length of Service: 14 weeks or 52 weeks on field, plus orientation prior to departure

Dates Opportunity Is Available (approximate):
Either April 1 – Sept 30, 2009 or Jan/Feb 2010 – Jan/Feb 2011

Specific Responsibilities:
1. IMPACT Club Interns and Viata Summer Camp Interns work at the heart of the New Horizons Foundations mission and work: to facilitate experiential education to empower youth, serve communities and create social change.
2. IMPACT Club Interns will be a part of leading club meetings, creating curriculum for youth and develop resources to evolve the IMPACT model (see more at www.new-horizons.ro). Interns will spend time with the youth during club hours and adventure trips while documenting their observations and creating materials for IMPACT leaders nationwide
3 Interns will also assist with the Viata Summer Adventure Club program by developing strategies to recruit youth to the camp and creating new aspects of the Viata program such as the Ecological Training or Orienteering sections. Interns will also act as leaders for the summer camp if present between the months of May and October. Interns will be trained for the summer camp position.
4. If time permits, interns will also assist fellow co-workers with office administration tasks and strategic planning.
5. Complete weekly or monthly reports regarding work.Qualifications: 
1. Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ;
2. Able to nurture own faith in a sometimes isolated environment; 
3. Experience serving in the church and/or community;
4. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture; 
5. Demonstrated interest in learning about Christian community development;
6. Commitment to CRWRC development values;
7. Self-starter and able to work and guide own learning without constant on-site supervision;
8. Able and willing to work in a team setting; 
9. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required (MS Access also preferred);
10. Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support; 
11. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture;
12. Able and willing to learn about a different culture and language;
13. Good oral communication and writing skills;
14. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.
15. At least one year proven experience in working with youth.
16. Social science degree or at least 2-3 years of college coursework;
17. Good organization and leadership skills;

Financial Requirements of Volunteer:
Estimation of $9,390 (14 weeks) or $19,070 (52 weeks) for RT Airfare to Romania, Transfers, In-country travel, Insurance, Orientation, Personal Travel Costs, Living Allowance, Immunizations, Visa Costs, Cell Phone, and Other Personal Expenses.
