
Position Title: Organization Development Coordinator
Location: Vila Ulongwe, Tete Province, Mozambique
Number of Positions: One retired individual or a couple
CRCNA Agency Involved: Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC)
CRWRC Partner Involved: IRM - Igreja Reformada em Mozambique
Time Commitment: Minimum of 6 months to 2 years maximum
Dates Opportunity Is Available: January 2009 or March 2009
Application Closing Date: January 10, 2009
Purpose: Work with the management of IRM to analyze and strengthen all areas of their organizational structure.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Learn the regional, country, and community context and culture.
2. Identify “gaps” in employee skills and trainings needed
3. Build coordination of various IRM departments
4. Lead department head meetings and employee trainings
5. Work with department heads to identify duplication
6. Streamline and standardize different administrative processes
7. Help IRM to identify ways of generating additional income
8. Create strategic plan to continue the work done by after the volunteer has departed
9. Participate and contribute in IRM’s management meetings, staff trainings, and staff devotionals
10. Complete monthly reports regarding work
11. Meet with mentor/supervisor bi-weekly
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of BA or BS in Business Management, Human Resources or other related area.
2. Four to six years of senior management experience
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with staff
4. Good accounting skills and knowledge of organization financial systems
5. Working knowledge of Spanish is good, Portuguese is a plus.
6. Motivated self starter and able to work with little supervision
7. Resourceful and creative
8. A capacity to encourage and foster change
9. Some mission experience in developing country, a plus.
10. Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ.
11. Able to nurture own faith in a sometimes isolated environment.
12. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings.
13. Ability to demonstrate much patience and grace in difficult situations
14. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture.
15. Demonstrated interest in learning about Christian community development.
16. Willing to do work and teach in appropriate ways which can be sustained by partner/community after volunteer has left.
17. Able to submit to the culture and organizational practices valued by CRWRC and IRM.
18. Good oral communication and writing skills.
19. Some proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Knowledge of Quickbooks, a plus
20. Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support.
Financial Requirements of the volunteer:
6 Month Term: Estimation of $9630 US for a single individual, or $15,440 US for a couple for RT Airfare to Mozambique, Transfers, In-country travel, Insurance, Personal Travel Costs, Monthly Living Allowance, Immunizations, Visa Costs, Field Learning Trips and Communication.
