Time Commitment: A commitment of 3 - 6 months in Bangladesh, and 4 weeks of reading, orientation, and fundraising before departure.
Dates Opportunity Is Available: Opportunity dates are dependant upon staff, partner and volunteer availability. Applications are due no less than 6 months in advance of placement. Application periods close January, April, July, and October.
Purpose: Teach basics of the English language to partner's program staff. Help increase community's capacity to build sustainable programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparation and teaching of an English language curriculum.
- Collaborate and work alongside CRWRC staff on the field to implement classes in the community.
- Ensure and maintain quality of classes taught.
- Prepare monthly reports on the progress of students attending the English classes.
- Build relationships with the community by staying open and flexible to the culture around you;
- Write bi-monthly reports to individual supporters and churches.
- Complete recommended reading, and orientation before departure to the country;
- Provide CRWRC and the community with an evaluation at the end of the project.
Qualifications:
- Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ
- ESL training and at least one year of experience in teaching English as a second language or community development work preferable;
- At least one-year of cross-cultural experience;
- Compassionate, respectful of other cultures and emotionally stable.
- Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision in ambiguous situations.
- Reporting and organizational skills;
- Basic competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to view life with a sense of humour.
- Completed long term application and resume.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Raise prayer and financial support by inviting individuals, businesses and/or churches to give to your opportunity.

Support Services Provided: CRWRC and the ServiceLink offices agree to provide the following:
-ongoing logistical and orientation support to meet the needs of the volunteer, local community, and CRWRC's Bangladesh staff.
-Reading and orientation materials, consultation and/or visits by missionary staff
-Mentorship and supervision on the field will take place with CRWRC staff.
-An opportunity to help volunteers link their individual/church's mission and vision to work being done;
-Recognition in CRWRC's various communication to supporters and awards for the volunteers.
