CRWM Ukraine English Camp


Opportunity Title: Evangelistic English Camp

Location:  Mukachevo, Ukraine

Number of Positions: looking for a team of 4 to 6 people

CRCNA Ministry Involved: CRWM

Time Commitment: Two and a half weeks

Dates Opportunity is Available:  July 24 - August 11, 2011 (visit may be extended)

Purpose: Assist a local congregation in their summer outreach to teenagers and young adults in the community. 

Specific Responsibilities:
The short term volunteers will work with CRWM missionaries George and Sarah de Vuyst as they partner with a small church plant, the Christian Reformed Church in Mukachevo.  The volunteers would help the congregation in their summer outreach to teenagers and young adults in the community.  The volunteers will plan a 6 day Evangelistic English Camp for 20 young people who display intermediate English-language skills and an interest in discussing the Bible.  As part of the English camp, volunteers will give their testimonies, lead small group inductive Bible studies, organize English conversation games, teach some basic English lessons, lead the singing of Christian songs, and organize group games and activities.

Qualifications:
• Mature Christian aged 18 or older, committed to serving Jesus Christ
• Have a heart for evangelism and be able to share your faith in both word and deed.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Able to plan lessons and to lead a small-group Bible study on your own.
• Ability to tolerate “camp-style” housing and physically demanding conditions.
• Interest in/experience with youth ministry helpful.
• Willingness to submit to and learn from the local church’s leadership.
• Able to be compassionate and respectful of other cultures.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor. 

College education majors, as well as those with training in the teaching of English as a Second Language, are encouraged to apply.

Expectations of the volunteer:
• Complete and submit a volunteer application form and resume/CV.
• Undergo a background check.
• Complete recommended reading prior to departure.
• Raise prayer and financial support by inviting individuals, businesses and/or churches to support your ministry.
• Attend an orientation session in Grand Rapids, MI or Burlington, ON (when possible)
• Share with your supporters about your experience after returning to North America.
• Adhere to CRCNA Standards of Conduct

Budget:
Estimated funds needed per team member - $1130 USD plus cost of round-trip airfare from North America
