CRWM Mexico Missionary Intern Volunteer


Opportunity Title: Missionary Intern/Volunteer 

Location:  Guadalajara, Mexico 

CRCNA Ministry Involved: CRWM

Number of Positions: 1

Expected Length of Service: One year, with the option of continuing for an additional year or longer.

Dates Opportunity is Available:  Now, although dependent on field staff and volunteer availability.  Note that application process takes approximately 4 to 6 months.

Purpose: To assist CRWM career missionaries and their local partners in their work of evangelism, discipleship,
and church planting in the state of Jalisco. This position involves both direct frontline missionary work and encouragement/training of Mexican partners.  Ministry will be carried out in conjunction with existing CRWM work
in Guadalajara as well as one or more of CRWM’s local partners in the area.   

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out ministries of evangelism, discipleship, and church planting alongside CRWM missionaries and their partners in communities in Jalisco State
  2. Engage appropriately in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting ministries
  3. Be an ambassador of Christ in thought, word, and deed.
  4. Be a learner of language, culture, and ministry from CRWM career missionaries and Mexican partners
  5. Forge meaningful collaborative relationships with national partners.
  6. Form connections between CRWM’s work in Mexico and national and/or regional Kingdom-building networks 
    and alliances
  7. Complete recommended reading and orientation before departure to the country
  8. Communicate mission-vision to North American CRCNA congregations before and after one-year term and raise up partners in mission for the sake of prayer, emotional, and financial support.
  9. Communicate on a regular basis with CRCNA partners in North America during term on the field.

Qualifications:

  1. Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ.
  2. Professing member of the CRCNA.
  3. College/Bible Institute graduate or current seminary student. Ordination not required. 
  4. Need to have at least basic Spanish language ability. 
  5. Sense of humor/sense of adventure.
  6. Able to work independently, with infrequent contact with North Americans.
  7. Good oral and written communications skills, as well as reporting, planning and organizational skills.
  8. Some cross-cultural experience would be helpful.

Support Services Provided:  ServiceLink and CRWM agree to provide:

  • Orientation materials
  • Ongoing logistical support
  • Support and assistance with fund-raising, if desired. 
  • The support of CRWM field staff and partners while on the field, with direct supervision provided by a CRWM missionary. The intern would also attend CRWM Mexico’s annual field council meeting as an observer, as well as participating in the annual field spiritual retreat.

Requirements of the volunteer:

  1. Complete and submit a volunteer application form and resume/CV
  2. Pass a background check.
  3. Raise prayer and financial support by inviting churches and individuals to give to this opportunity.
  4. Attend an orientation session in either Grand Rapids, MI or Burlington, ON.
  5. Adhere to CRCNA Standards of Conduct.

Financial Obligations of the Volunteer::  please note that costs are estimated and listed in US funds.
Costs shown assume a one-year term of service.

  • Travel to country - $700 round-trip
  • Food - $3000
  • Lodging - $4800
  • Ministry expenses - $2000
  • In-country transportation - $2000
  • In-country communications - $1850
  • Medical and Travel Insurance
  • Communication to supporting churches - $800
  • Administrative fee - $600
    TOTAL Estimated funds needed - $15,750 for one year

Additional Costs – depending on each individual

  • Passport
  • Vaccinations and required prescription medication
  • Communication (i.e. cell phone etc.) 
  • Tourist trips - if so desired
