
Opportunity Title: HIV Promotions Coordinator
Location: Los Banos and Manila, Philippines
CRCNA Agency: CRWRC and CRWM
CRCNA Partner Involved: Red HAT
Area of Focus: HIV & AIDS - The Red HIV & AIDS Team is a church-based team of volunteers committed to local HIV and AIDS response in the Philippines. With support from CRWRC and CRWM, Red Hat collaborates with the community, church and PLWA (people living with AIDS) to prevent a Philippines AIDS epidemic and care for those who are affected currently by HIV and AIDS. Red HAT runs awareness and anti-stigma campaigns which seeks to educate, embrace and engage the community around the issues related to the disease.
Number of Positions: 2
Expected Length of Service: 26 or 52 Weeks (Can only be extended with approval from the field.)
Dates Opportunity Is Available (approximate): Departure dates negotiable between May 1st and June 30th, 2010
Application Closing Date: When Postion Filled.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Learn different cultural, administrative and field aspects of community development work;
2. Manage the day to day design and coordination of HIV & AIDS workshops, seminars and promotions.
3. Assist in other HIV & AIDS community programming;
4. Design layout and design a website for Red HAT promotions;
5. Write quarterly stories about HIV & AIDS work in the Philippines.
6. Complete weekly or monthly reports regarding work.
Qualifications:
1.Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ;
2. At least two years of college/university courses;
3.One to two years of experience in organizing and coordinating events;
4. Some experience in teaching, instruction and designing trainings.
5.Good written, oral and organizational skills.
6. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture;
7. Interest in learning about the many facets of HIV & AIDS, and community development;
8. Commitment to CRWRC development values;
10. Able and willing to work in a team setting;
11. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Excel is required.
12. Some experience in website creation and maintenance, an added plus.
12. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture;
13. Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support;
14. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.
15. Can work independently with little direct supervision.
16. Able to physically/mentally endure challenges of living in a developing country.
Financial Requirements of Volunteer:
Estimation of $16,590 USD for 52 weeks or $9,470 for 26 weeks. Includes RT Airfare to the Philippines, Transfers, In-country travel, Insurance, Travel Costs, Monthly Living Allowance, Food, Utilities, Immunizations, Visa Costs, Cell Phone and Cell Phone Minutes.
