
Opportunity Title: Volunteer Program Officer
Location: Jos, Nigeria
CRCNA Ministry: CRWRC (Christian Reformed World Relief Committee)
CRCNA Partner: Grace and Light is a HIV/AIDS Ministry that works with various churches to promote openness of status in an effort to overcome the culture of stigmatization and secrecy. Grace and Light also integrates effective prevention with care and support of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Number of Positions: 1 position
Expected Length of Service: Minimum 8 weeks

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Responsibilities:
- In cooperation with the Administrative Officer, implement proper HR policies and procedures;
- Review and make recommendations of procedures to enhance efficient and effective work practices;
- Other duties as listed in the full position description.
2. Operations Duties:
- In cooperation with Coordinator plan and manage trainings and other programs;
- Maintain database of active and non-active volunteers. Strengthen volunteer policies and procedures.
3. Ministry Responsibilities:
- Learn about and be involved in Grace & Light programmes/activities that use your gifts;
- Serve as a participating team member with Grace & Light staff.
4. Other duties as requested by Coordinator or Management Community.
Qualifications:
- Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ;
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS in Africa a plus;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Able to nurture own faith in a sometimes isolated environment;
- Experience serving in the church and/or community;
- Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture;
- Demonstrated interest in learning about Christian community development;
- Commitment to CRWRC development values;
- Self-starter and able to work and guide own learning without constant on-site supervision;
- Able and willing to work in a team setting;
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required (MS Access also preferred);
- Demonstrated proficiency with a computer;
- Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support;
- Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture. Cultural sensitivity;
- Able and willing to learn about a different culture and language;
- Superb communication skills, oral and written;
- Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.
