We have enjoyed special times bicycling together with our friends in fund raising events. When we first heard about this trip we became somewhat intrigued by the possibility that we could participate. However, in August 2007, Ken had open heart surgery. We thought this event ruled out that dream of doing the trip. As Ken began to recover, through God's grace, we began to again talk about the possibility of at least doing a smaller segment of the trip. After discussing this possibility with Ken's doctors and getting the assurance that he could gain back his strength and ability to bike again, we are convinced that through hard work and discipline, we will be ready to bike by August. God has given Ken back his health and we desire to serve him in gratitude by raising money to fight poverty and bike the 800 miles from Grand Rapids to Jersey City. |
