I ride to raise money and awareness for the poor—real people with names, faces and often children. By riding, I light one small candle instead of cursing the darkness or simply shrugging and looking the other way. My interest in doing this is both personal and professional. My earliest ministry was with people caught in the cycle of poverty, an experience that shaped my heart. Cycling across the continent is also a decades-old dream that I’ll now be able to fulfill with our son and daughter-in-law, Dave & Liz Meyer, who’ll be biking Sea to Sea as well. By participating in the Sea to Sea fund raiser, we’ll be “Following Christ -- In Mission Together” as we do what we can to break the cycle of poverty. |
