In 1984 I had the experience of riding a coast to coast tour. On the last day, I was thinking “I don’t want this to end” and “some day I want to do this again.” That day is about to come—24 years later. Now I plan to have this experience with my daughter. However, if biking was what it was all about, I would probably not be signing up. I had the opportunity to work with an organization who assisted people with substance addictions. This work showed me more clearly the difficulty people encounter trying to break the cycle of their addictions. Often poverty was one of the results. I also saw how helping out in the name of Jesus can make a difference in a person’s spiritual walk.
