Ride Along for A Day

Local groups in Denver, Grand Rapids and New Jersey have partnered with Sea to Sea to coordinate ride along tours for casual cyclists of all ages and abilities to join the Sea to Sea 2008 Bike Tour for a day.

Please note the registration process carefully for each individual event below. Please do not call the Sea to Sea office to register for any of these one-day rides.


Ride Along in Grand Rapids

Casual bicyclists of all ages may join the Sea to Sea Bike Tour on Saturday, August 16 for a 45-mile ride from Grand Haven to Grand Rapids.

SATURDAY BIKING DETAILS:

  • Starting at CRC Conference Grounds in Grand Haven between 7 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Tour ends at Calvin College in Grand Rapids around 1:30 p.m.
  • Transportation from Grand Rapids to Grand Haven can be provided for a nominal fee.
  • Route maps will be given to riders at the starting point.
  • Complete the registration form and release form before Aug. 8 (see registration below).

Registration: Registration is done through the coordinating agency: Volunteers in Service. VIS is a Christ-based ministry fighting poverty in Grand Rapids. Interested riders must send in the registration form, sign the waiver before Aug. 8 in order to ride. Questions? Go to the VIS web site or call the VIS office: 616-459-7500.

Registration fee:  A tax-deductible gift of at least $100 is required to participate. These funds will support the work of VIS in helping those in need.


Ride Along in New Jersey

Casual bicyclists of all ages may join the Sea to Sea Bike Tour on Saturday, August 30 for a 61-mile ride from Sussex to Jersey City (Liberty State Park).

SATURDAY BIKING DETAILS:

  • Starting at Sussex Christian School in Sussex, NJ between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.
  • Tour ends at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ around 1:00 p.m.
  • Route maps will be given to riders at the starting point.
  • Complete the registration form and release form before Aug. 22 (see registration below).

Registration: Registration is done through the local Sea to Sea celebration rally organizing team. Interested riders must fill out the registration form, sign the waiver and contact Kevin Hoogerhyde by e-mail at c2cridealong@verizon.net before Aug. 22 in order to ride.

Registration fee:  A fee of $30 is required to participate (this includes admission to the closing picnic in Wyckoff). Each single-day rider is also asked to raise $100 in donations to be added to the overall Sea to Sea campaign to end the cycle of poverty for people and communities locally and globally.

Ride Along in Denver

Casual bicyclists of all ages may join the Sea to Sea Bike Tour on Saturday, July 26 for one of three rides listed below, or on Sunday, July 27 for a short ride to the worship service.

SATURDAY BIKING OPTIONS:

  1.  Snow Mountain Ranch near Winter Park– 80 miles and one mountain pass to Denver  
  2.  Evergreen – 25 mile ride to Denver
  3.  Red Rocks (Entrance on CO-74) – 12 mile ride to Denver
  • End point on Saturday is at Denver Christian High School - 2135 S. Pearl St., Denver, CO  80210.
  • You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the starting and ending points.
  • Route maps will be given to riders at each starting point.
  • Complete the registration form and release form before July 15 (see registration below).

SUNDAY BIKING OPTION:
Ride with the tour cyclists to a worship service on Sunday morning, July 27.  You do not need to complete the registration form if you choose this option.

  • Depart from Denver Christian High School, 2135 S. Pearl St., Denver, CO 80210 at 9:00am.
  • Ride two miles to Englewood High School’s stadium, 3800 S. Logan, Englewood, CO.
  • Join others for a worship service, ministry fair, and lunch from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Registration fee:  Sea to Sea cyclists have each committed to raise $10,000.00.  We ask that local riders also contribute by making a donation toward ending the cycle of poverty.  Make check out to Volunteers In Action, a Denver non-profit organization which helps churches and individuals work with the poor and disadvantaged population of Front Range communities.  Please send a donation (check) in the amount of your own choosing with your registration form.
