How Donations Are UsedSea to Sea partners will use the funds generated through the tour to help end the cycle of poverty for individuals and families in communities around the world. Locally Offerings will be received at most of the Celebration Rallies held on the nine Sundays during the tour. Half of the offering will be added to the overall Sea to Sea fund-raising goal; the other half will support one or more ministries serving the poor in the city where the rally is held. Churches and para-church ministries that work toward poverty-reduction will be encouraged to apply for grants from the CRC Foundation, where 25% of all tour proceeds will be allocated. Globally Sea to Sea is also partnering with three main agencies who will receive 75% of the tour proceeds and earmark them for new or existing programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty. These agencies are: the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee, Christian Reformed World Missions and Partners Worldwide. Further partnerships with RCA Global Mission, Christian Reformed Home Missions and the Office of Social Justice and Hunger Action serve to extend the reach and impact of the tour in serving the poor in a variety of ways.
Following are some examples of how your donation will be used to help the poor. To make a gift, click here. Thank you for your generosity. $100 — provides training on soil conservation to a community in Haiti. Without the preservation of trees, precious, fertile topsoil is washed away by the rains, leaving poorer crops for the impoverished families that depend on them. Soil conservation training is one of the best ways to combat this problem. (CRWRC) $120 — pays all of a student's expenses to go to school for one year in Niger. Through the Evangelical Church of the Republic of Niger (EERN), we are educating students so that they will be able to break out of the cycle of poverty that has been so much a part of life in Niger, one of the poorest countries in the world. (RCA Global Mission) $125 — provides a sewing machine for a woman in India that will enable her to start her own micro business and help move her and her family out of poverty. (RCA Global Mission) $270 — trains pastors for ministry to families through the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua. (World Missions) $475 — enables the start of a small business that sustains ten people overseas. (Partners Worldwide) $4,500 — will rebuild a home, with the help of volunteer labor, following Hurricane Katrina. (CRWRC) |
