Global Food Crisis (5/1)

Responding to the global food crisis, the anti-poverty ONE Campaign has made a petition available on its website.  The petition calls on President Bush to prioritize the hunger crisis at the G8 summit meeting this July, and to secure commitments for additional resources for all types of food assistance and increased agricultural productivity in developing countries.  You can sign onto the petition at www.one.org.

Darfur: Food Rations Reduced (5/1)

Save Darfur Canada has issued an action alert asking Canadians to write to the Prime Minister, asking the Canadian government to take important steps to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.  You can learn about the call to action, which includes sending a small portion of rice with your letter, by visiting Save Darfur Canada's website: http://www.sdcanada.org/WFP.html

Immigration Reform

Christian Reformed Church leaders have spoken out in favor of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (for more information about CRC-related actions on immigration, go here.) Currently, the OSJ is asking advocates to take action against the SAVE Act.  This legislation would make a reforming of the immigration system much more difficult and make it harder for people of faith to protect the human rights of those immigrating to this country.  You can take action today through our partners at Church World Service.

Tents of Hope for Darfur

Your congregation, school or group can turn a symbol of loss into one of hope!  Take action for the refugees of Darfur, Sudan, by participating in this unique effort to educate, advocate, and raise relief funds.  The Office of Social Justice and the Christian Reformed World Relief Commitee encourage you to get involved, and we'd love to assist.  Check it out!
