After a vicious war in 1997 and 1998 that destroyed most of the town of Takum, local Reformed denominations were looking for ways to bring peace. They invited the Reformed Ecumenical Council and the Christian Reformed Church in North America to help them with a process to bring peace. They also located the services of Professor Hizkias Assefa, a member of the Mennonite International Peace team. (more detail. . .)
