Peace&War: Pray

Choose one work week this month to focus on praying for peace.

Monday: Ask that God open your heart and mind and prepare you for any challenges or opportunities that might arise as you reflect and pray on peace this week.

Tuesday: Are there areas in your own life where peace could be restored? Pray that God help you to heal rifts with an estranged friend or relative. Sometimes, we act violently towards ourselves, through thoughts and actions. Pray that God renew a sense of peace in your own heart and life.

Wednesday: Pray for peace in your local community. Look to your daily paper for inspiration. Are there problems in certain neighborhoods that you could pray for? Are there local officials who could use your prayers? Pick a street and pray for peace.

Thursday: Pray for peace in our own nation. There are so many issues that drive us to anger and hatred for one another. Ask God to show you how you might be a small part of restoring peace. Our culture often celebrates and glorifies violence. Pray that acts of peace and restoration gain people’s attention and admiration.

Friday: Yesterday, you prayed for your own nation. Now turn your prayers outward even further. Choose another country to pray for peace. There are many nations where civil unrest or corrupt leaders have devastated communities. Pray for solutions and protection for those trapped in violent situations.
