Global Hunger and Poverty Resources
There are lots of great resources for you, your congregation, small group or school to learn about global poverty and hunger. The OSJ recommends these as a great place to start - and we encourage you to contact us if you are looking for something different or need assistance: osjha@crcna.org.
Bread for the World, a non-partisan Christian anti-poverty advocacy organization, works to end hunger in the United States and around the world. The CRC has been closely involved with Bread for a long time, and we think they're a great group for you to be a part of! This year, their focus is on increasing and improving poverty-focused development assistance.
Go to www.bread.org to learn more. We encourage you to get invovled in their Offering of Letters campaign, which not only provides action, but provides congregational and group education on issues affecting the poor and hungery around the world.
In Canada, you can learn more at the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. This partnership of Canadian church-based agencies has a bunch of resources on its website that can help you learn more about global hunger.
Check out their Breaking Bread newsletters, or go to the Public Education page under the "Programs" link where you can learn about taking a Food Study tour, sign up for a workshop, and participate in other learning opportunites.
And of course, our denomination's own CRWRC provides a wonderful tool each year for World Hunger Sunday. Each year's materials include great education resources that are appropriate for individuals, families and church congregations.
