Resources

Youth

You know that justice is a big deal for youth -- but maybe you're not sure how to provide opportunities for them to engage. We have resources that will make it easy for a youth group to educate its congregation on the MDGs, participate in advocacy, and even lead a worship service around poverty reduction and becoming a part of God's project of justice in the world.

On your "Show of Hands" Sunday, encourage your youth group to set up an MDG Stations experience wherever your church has its fellowship hour. Or have the youth be in charge of the "Show of Hands" Sunday service itself. Contact us for help and ideas.

Multimedia

Need a video clip to show during a service? Browse through some of our favorites, or contact mkraley@crcna.org if you have a particular need to fill.

All of the Show of Hands graphics are available online to print or use in any way.

Worship

If we're serious about justice, we have to integrate it into our worship -- everyone in the congregation needs the opportunity to see just how important these themes are to our faith. And it's easy when you have the right tools in place. We can help you set up a worship service complete with prayers that are being spoken worldwide, a litany, a children's sermon, an easy action to show your support for the MDGs... whatever you need to make it easy to integrate justice into a worship service this fall.

Prayer: Around the world this fall, 10 million Christians are expected to pray this prayer. Join them!
Children's Prayer: Children can participate by praying this children's prayer.
Litany: web version or printable version
Theme song: Let Justice Roll Down

"Show of Hands" event

Any Sunday this fall, hold a "Show of Hands" to 1) fold hands in prayer with those around the globe, 2) raise hands to be counted in advocacy to remind lawmakers that there are five years until the MDGs must be met.

Holding a Show of Hands event is easy. 1) Sign up, 2) Use our plan (or plan your own!), 3) Go to town!

8 Stations

You can't be a good advocate for something you don't understand. Make the Millennium Development Goals clear to your congregation by setting up our 8 participatory stations. Each table will help church members to see how each of the goals is vital to ending poverty -- and achievable! The MDGs aren't confusing -- in fact, they're very empowering -- once you understand them clearly. By making the rounds to each station during your church's fellowship hour, the MDGs will be compelling and clear -- and it will be easy for everyone to raise their voices once they're convinced!

Speakers

We have several passionate individuals willing to speak about the Millennium Development Goals. Shoot us an email with your request, and we'll find someone in your area!

Advocacy

This year's advocacy focus is on more and better foreign aid. If your congregation simply wants to trace their hands in support of the MDGs, that's great! If you're interested in more detailed information regarding our legislative ask, read on!
