CRWM's ministry in Eastern Europe>>>

Eastern Europe SMP 2008

SMP Eastern Europe team 2007

What you’ll be doing: (**) Plans are still being finalized, but it is expected that team members will minister in Hungary, Ukraine, and Romania by leading English camps. Participants will use the English language to connect with teenagers and engage them in Bible discussions while demonstrating what it means to follow Jesus Christ in their daily lives. The team will also minister through testimonies, music, sports, crafts, sports, and music, all while demonstrating what it means to follow Jesus Christ in their daily lives.

How you’ll be equipped/prepared: In Mukachevo, Ukraine you will have a week of in-field orientation, including some study of Russian and Hungarian, cultural do’s and don'ts, help with planning Bible study discussions, and visits to historical and local attractions.

(All SMP teams also attend a mandatory pre-field orientation in Grand Rapids, MI )

 Tentative Cost: $4000 US/CAN*

*costs for this location are expected to be slightly higher relative to other locations due to a number of factors, including the inflation rate in Ukraine, the cost of fuel, and the extra cost involved in travelling among three different countries.

Where you’ll stay: in camp facilities and with host families

Who you'll spend your summer with:

  • Your hosts on the field: George and Sarah de Vuyst have been working with CRWM for nine years in Mukachevo, Ukraine.  They are working in leadership training and church planting in partnership with local Reformed churches. The de Vuysts have three young children. Participants will also work alongside Hungarian Reformed pastors Janos Victor and Jozsef Soos, and their wives.
  • Your teammates:   a team of six participants

**PLEASE NOTE: a key missionary characteristic is flexibility, and you will definitely be developing yours! In other words, everything (and we do mean EVERYTHING) is subject to change.
