The Refe Late Rebuilds the Soil

Communities in Haiti are forging ahead after the January 2010 earthquake. Join Jeff Cosico, the Livelihoods Manager from CRWRC and its partner ZOA, who highlights the work of the Refe Late’s Farmer Association in the mountainous region south of Leogane. The people of this rural community have been working together to repair roads, plant seeds, and restore the land, thanks to your support through CRWRC. (6:09)

The Homes of Camp Ajidel

Nadine Senatus and others in her community lived in tents and under tarps for several months following the Haiti earthquake in 2010. Thanks to CRWRC’s support, they were able to receive rights to the land they lived on, and were able to build their own homes. (6:14)

Twenty Wells

Jos Joosse, WASH & Irrigation Consultant, sheds light on the work of establishing wells and pumps in the Léogâne communities where CRWRC is working. Madame Charles Malorie now plays an important role as well manager.  (4:06) Order (free)

Psycho-social Support for Maryse Joseph

Maryse Joseph of Léogâne survived the quake along with her children – and her home. But despite the green light from CRWRC engineers who assessed her home and confirmed that her house was completely safe, Maryse chose to sleep in a leaky makeshift shelter with her children for many months. Thanks to psycho-social support, Maryse Joseph has recently begun sleeping in her home again. (6:18) Order (free) 

Building Hope Through Homes

Reginald Francois and his wife Beatrice Jean Louis are happy to have a new home from CRWRC for themselves and their baby. Receiving a home ownership certificate is particularly meaningful for Madame Fortune Pierre. (5:25) Order (free)

 

Making a CRWRC House a Home

Madame Mimose Louis and Madame Marie Carmelle, whose homes were demolished by the earthquake, celebrate their new homes - which they have personalized and added on to. 1700 wood framed homes are planned for the communities of Croix des Peres, Flon, Luitor, Macombe, and Masson. (4:59) Order (free)

Thank you from King's Hospital

Patients at King's Hospital in Port au Prince have clean, filtered water thanks to a Trojan UV water filtration system donated by a large group in London, Ontario, Canada through CRWRC.  A second system has since been installed at Grace Children's Hospital. (4:19) Order (free)

 

CRECH Supports Children 

CRWRC trained teachers from 33 schools to provide psycho-social assistance to children traumatized by the earthquake.  Pastor Belizare and Aline Jean Philipe tell their stories and describe this process in this video.  (5:06) Order (free)

PWOFOD's Continuing Ministry 

PWOFOD, a diaconal training organization, lost their office in the earthquake.  With support from CRWRC they have a new temporary office.  Ad deBlaeij from CRWRC and Pierre Merisier, PWOFOD's coordinator, describe PWOFOD's programs, which include micro-credit and literacy. (6:26) Order (free)

Madame Guirlene's Story 

Madame Guirlene is a blind woman living independently in Luitor, one of the communities where CRWRC is responding to the destruction and trauma wrought by the Haiti earthquake. Initially she received a tarp and food aid from CRWRC. Later her tarp tent was replaced by a wood framed shelter. (5:08) Order (free)

 

Six Month Update 

Lauris and Ron Fuller, CRWRC International Relief Managers, capture much of the first six months of CRWRC's disaster response in Haiti, particularly in the Leogane communities of Croix des Peres, Flon, Luitor, Macombe, and Masson.  Madame Edner Dekaye describes her transition from the tarp tent camp in the field, to a temporary shelter on her property, and finally to a new CRWRC wood framed house. (8:22) Order (free) 

Hope Rising Like Dough
