Embrace AIDS ~ Donate
CRWRC is responding to HIV and AIDS in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
The two projects* listed below are in need of your support today!
India: EFICOR
CRWRC and EFICOR are working with local churches to lift the shroud of stigma from people living with HIV and AIDS, to stand against injustice of discriminating legislation, and to help stop the spread of this horrible disease.
HIV and AIDS programs in India will:
- Reduce transmission of HIV. Education is key for stopping the spread of HIV. Classes will be given to 200 college students, and information will be distributed through quarterly newsletters, and TV programs.
- Reduce the Church's negative attitude toward people living with HIV and AIDS. Pastors in 25 churches will receive HIV and AIDS education; pastors will then educate congregations in HIV prevention, stigma reduction, and the need to care for people living with the disease.
- Influence policy change. Communities will lobby with their local politicians for positive changes in state education, and youth policies related to HIV and AIDS.
Nicaragua: Nehemiah Center
CRWRC and the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua believes that, through open dialogue in light of the Word of God by the local church, change in attitudes and practices in the community is possible.
This project aims to reduce the stigma of AIDS, and help stop the spread of the disease particularly among youth and married women, two of the most vulnerable groups of society.
The three year plan is to:
- Educate leaders in poverty and HIV sensitivity, care and prevention, and equip them to train and educate others
- Support churches as they plan their own HIV and AIDS care programs, and anti-discrimination programs
- Encourage churches involvement in local and national advocacy campaigns for the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS
*note: these are two of nine HIV and AIDS projects currently underway in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
