CRWRC & Urbana
Urbana is a triennial, five-day missions conference that brings together more than 20,000 young adults from across North America. While there, young people are challenged by speakers, workshops, and exhibitors to explore God's calling on their lives.
Urbana 2009 will be held in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. To help young people from across the United States and Canada attend this event, CRWRC is partnering with Christian Reformed World Missions to offer travel grants that will help defray some of the costs. Any young adult who is attending Urbana and is a member or regular attendee of a Christian Reformed Church is eligible to apply. Travel Grant applications are due November 30, 2009.
Once you get to Urbana, visit CRWRC's booth to learn what role you can play in fighting poverty, AIDS, and hunger around the world. While you are there, enter to win a three-week volunteer trip to Uganda.
The trip will be a unique volunteer opportunity that is specifically crafted around the gifts and interests of the contest winner. That winner will work alongside CRWRC staff and indigenous partners in a community that is responding to HIV & AIDS with long-term and sustainable solutions. The volunteer experience might include helping out at a HIV testing clinic, assisting a health worker in visiting the homes of those affected by HIV or working with a group of Ugandan youth in doing AIDS awareness and prevention campaigns. The winner will also receive orientation and mentorship by CRWRC staff and Ugandan community leaders.
The trip give-away contest is open to individuals age 18 and older who are legal residents of the United States or Canada. Entries will be collected at Urbana and online between November 4, 2009 and February 28, 2010. The winner will be announced on or around March 1, 2010. (Note: The online entry form is not yet available. Please e-mail shine@crwrc.org if you would like to be informed when the entry form is online).
